“‘I had a terrible day.’ We say it all the time. A fight with the boss, the stomach flu, traffic. That’s what we describe as terrible, when nothing terrible is happening. These things are the things we beg for. A root canal, an IRS audit, coffee spilled on our clothes. When the really terrible things happen, we start begging a god we don’t believe in to bring back the little horrors and away this. It seems quaint now, doesn’t it? The flood in the kitchen, the poison oak, the fight that leaves you shaking with rage. Would it have helped if we could see what else was coming? Would we have known that those were the best moments of our lives?” - Grey's Anatomy

orange crushes and football

it was a successful weekend in football land. A win for UGA and Notre Dame. Here are a few pics of Saturday with the family, and Huey (but she is basically part of the family at this point)

The game was at the Redskins stadium

last time I was there was with Greg for the Redskins vs Eagles game in 2009
I love looking back on this day and remembering how happy Greg was to be there. We would laugh together about this picture because the excitement was written all over his face. Being there again reminded me of the great day we had and the special memory I now keep close to my heart.

Engagement Party

A little later than I expected to get this posted, but better late than never. This past weekend the first of many wedding festivities began for my bother, Brent, and his fiance, Amanda.
I took on the task of desserts and was really happy with how they turned out....
but I think I destroyed my brothers kitchen in the meantime
Chocolate cake with vanilla butter cream frosting
Red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting

Brent and Amanda at the party
got to see family friends I don't get to see very often...
Brent and Amanda chose the party to ask their wedding party. I loved my personalized wine bottle, such a cute idea (and I always love a good bottle of red wine)
It is a special thing to be a part of such a huge day for someone, and it means so much for Amanda to have included myself and my sister.
the bridesmaids (minus one missing out of towner)...

....and yes if anyone noticed, another big event of the weekend, I chopped my hair off. It's taken some getting used to but I am beginning to really like it. I did it to donate to Locks of Love and I highly suggest doing this. You can't imagine how much something so little as donating your hair, can help someone.
